Plaza Boulevard

Kearney Housing Agency owns and manages 48 one or two bedroom apartments on the west side of Kearney. Rental assistance for these apartments is provided by USDA Rural Development to qualifying families or individuals. Families pay 30 percent of their adjusted gross income for rent. All families are responsible for paying their own electricity, however they are given a utility allowance which results in a reduction in the monthly rent. Water and garbage removal are included in the rent. Certain restrictions apply to qualify for the rental assistance.

  Eligibility requirements:

Families will be determined eligible if they:

  • Are within income limits determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • Have a history of timely rent and utility payments.
  • Live harmoniously with neighbors.
  • Take care of the property inside and out.
  • Take pride in their home and neighborhood.

  • 24 hour on site coin operated laundry facility.
  • Free storage units available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Lawn care and snow removal provided.
  • Plenty of closet and storage space.
  • 24 hour emergency maintenance.
  • Off street parking.
  • Qualification for the Nebraska Telephone Assistance Program.
  • Referrals to many other area helping agencies through the Family Self Sufficiency Staff.
